The Cheese Warehouse is pleased to announce that we have, yet again, achieved the highest level, Grade A, BRC Accreditation in our 2011 audit.
This means that we have consistently achieved the top grading every year since the system was introduced.
British Retail Consortium (BRC) accreditation is the leading trade association representing the whole range of UK food establishments and guarantees that our products are produced to the highest specification and meet the most rigorous quality and food safety standards.
BRC accreditation also provides our customers with the reassurance of a fully documented traceability and due-diligence and that our procurement, processing and delivery is of the highest possible standard in the food industry.
The Cheese Warehouse had its best ever year at the World’s biggest cheese show; the 2010 International Cheese Awards at Nantwich, with an impressive haul of 5 medals including a GOLD MEDAL for BEST GRATED CHEESE.
In fact, we WON 3 OUT OF THE TOTAL OF 6 MEDALS for grated cheese, receiving GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE medals for our grated cheese plus additional silver and bronze medals.
The GOLD MEDAL was for a grated Italian Provolone produced in Lombardy in northern Italy on the slopes of the Italian Alps. This “pasta filata” type cheese is one of the world’s great melting cheeses, superb grated over pasta or pizza.
We received the SILVER MEDAL for our fantastic Grana Padano shaved cheese. The cheese is fresh, fruity and sweet with a hard, grainy and crumbly texture, ideal for cooking, salads or delicious simply eaten on its own.
The BRONZE was for our Vintage West Country Farmhouse cheddar. This traditional handmade cheese is protected by law and can only be made to traditional recipes on a dozen or so farms in the four counties of Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, milk from local herds.
The International Cheese Awards at Nantwich is the world’s biggest and most prestigious cheese show. 2010 was the 114th show and attracted 3,230 cheeses in 300 categories in all, with competitors from 24 countries.
We look forward to repeating the success at this year’s awards in July!
We are accredited with BRC Global Standard - Food Grade A as well as being an approved supplier of cheese ingredient to all of the UK’s major retailers.
